Participants of the Nedform Academy seminar “Metal Forming Technology: From Theory to Practice” get free access to OptiDie, a unique calculation program developed by Nedschroef Machinery.

About OptiDie

Cold forming processes cause high internal pressures on the dies. These internal pressures lead to high stresses in the dies, which easily can cause tool breakage. To increase the allowable internal pressure in the die, the dies are usually pre-stressed by pressing the die insert in one or more rings.

With OptiDie you can calculate the stresses in radial pre-stressed dies. You can also calculate the optimum die diameter and the surplus of the die diameter before pressing it into the ring. The maximum allowable internal pressure in the die is the goal of this optimization.

The actual mechanical properties of the die and shrink ring materials are taken into consideration, as well as factory internal standard values for a surplus of the die diameter and the use of standardised die diameters.  The calculated radial and circumferential stress in the die and in the shrink rings are graphically displayed.

How to get access to OptiDie?

Participants of Nedform Academy seminar “Metal Forming Technology: From Theory to Practice” receive a personal password to access OptiDie after the seminar. Haven’t you received a password or did you forget your password? Please send an email to nedformacademy@nedschroef.be.
